Got some free time for the first mine in a while, so instead of spending the time sleeping, I made this in Photoshop over 4 hours. As you might expect, it is my vision of Barad-dûr, from the Lord of the Rings books by J. R. R Tolkien. I decided to do this as lord of the rings came up in a conversation during the week, reminding me of the books I have read too many times. Inspired by the movie adaptation, the big floating fire ball of the eye was something I just had to add. It also helped add a point of interest to the image.

I fear that I didn't get the scale as I wanted, after all, Barad-dûr is meant to be be a "mountain of iron" with battlements as "tall as hills". To help with the scale, I made an army coming out of the gates, making them walk six across, through the main gate and out over a bridge.

Hope you enjoyed what I got finished, If I feel like coming back to this piece, I would love to redo the walls of the towers, add details like gargoyles, and work a bit more on the beam of light coming from the eye.
