Hello, Just finished making a game in the Global Game Jam, and enjoyed every sleep deprived minute of it. We made the games in groups of 3-4, but I was fortunate to work with other teams as well, getting to resolve issues and create art assets for a wide variety of themes and styles of games.

Quality had to be cut repeatedly due the the time restraint, that when something ended up looking awesome it was even more rewarding than usual. I ended up being the go-to 3D Modeller in the Jam where I was where artists were in high demand. Having so many tasks I had to get done quickly, helped my problem solving and decision making skills and how comfortable I am in software in the software I used, particularly Maya. I ended up working briefly in a hack and slash, a horror, a side scroller and a puzzle, but I spent most of the time not sleeping working on the Puzzle game we decided to call Artefact. The concept was you were trying to unlock an ancient device before 10 minutes had passed, you would do so in a series of puzzles.

Due to the amount of time we had available, I did not texture the models and kept a minimalistic style so I could get assets to that standard quickly. In some areas I feel this worked particularly well, especially the wall with the news clippings and red tape all over it. Unfortunately, when items got too close, especially in the web browser, The shading started to falter, as seen below. One of my team mates plans to get the demo that we got done online so you can try it out if you so wish.

I had great fun, learnt lots and leave feeling inspired to do more leaving this years Game Jam. I think I will sleep first though......zzzzzzzzzz.
